Intervention

BREAKING THE VICIOUS CYCLE OF ADDICTION

Addiction can be devastating and frustrating for anybody caught up in the insanity of a loved one's disease. The addict sometimes can see no way out. And yet, in these darkest hours, friends and family members can be the strongest, most positive influence on an addict’s decision to get help.

Intervention can be the crucial first step on the path to a shared recovery.

Our certified professionals are trained to guide family, friends, or co-workers as they confront those afflicted with addiction and shepherd them toward a better alternative. The addict should never feel attacked or judged. Interventions are crucial because loved ones may resist accepting help, be it treatment, detox, rehab, etc.

Families are given the tools necessary to support their loved one’s journey to recovery and pave their own path as well.

Our intervention services include:

  • Preparatory meetings with family members, including concrete strategies to deal with resistance, denial, manipulation, and anger

  • Arrangements for a suitable treatment facility, including day-of transportation. For this, we have partnered with a wide range of alcohol and addiction detox, treatment centers, trauma therapists, and various mental health entities.

  • Facilitation of intervention meeting.

  • Meeting with the individual while he/she is in treatment, while simultaneously providing recovery coaching for family members

  • Facilitating sober living for recovering addicts post treatment, arranging referrals to mental health/after-care professionals as needed, and offering recovery for both the individual and their family post discharge.

WHAT IF YOUR LOVED ONE DOESN'T WANT TO BE SAVED?

While most interventions are successful, some addicts may flat out refuse treatment. In these cases, it's even more crucial to stick to the plan.

Even if the intervention doesn’t work out, family and friends can still make certain changes that may bear fruit in the future. This can include learning to stop enabling destructive cycles of behavior and instead taking active steps to encourage positive change. Remember, loved ones who refuse help during the intervention may come back and ask for it when you least expect it.

UNDERSTANDING WHAT YOU'RE UP AGAINST

Addiction is a disease, and the third leading cause of death in the United States. Effective treatment requires the same professional support that other deadly diseases do.

Addiction is a brain disorder that affects the individual and his/her entire family and social circle. Proper treatment requires both an initial acknowledgment that treatment is necessary and then a concerted community support effort for the long follow-through. InnerChange Recovery intervenes in such a way to allow the addict/alcoholic to accept help, thereby allowing the family to begin to recalibrate and instill healthier patterns. Our ultimate goal is to heal the entire family.

ASSESSING THE SITUATION

A professional assessment can help determine the severity of a client's substance abuse problem, and the level of support that might be warranted.

InnerChange Recovery specialist’s assessment uses time-tested interview and diagnostic tools to gather information on various aspects of the person’s life struggles (including biological, psychological, and social histories) to help paint the clearest picture possible of all substance-abuse patterns and co-occurring mental health issues. This will establish personalized treatment recommendations.

LEADING WITH LOVE

Participating in an intervention can be emotionally taxing. It can be one of the most difficult things you will ever do.

Our interventions are highly choreographed; encouraging family members to share their love for the addict to help balance the fear, anxiety and anger which arise during a confrontation. We may preach compassion, but we at InnerChange Recovery also believe in the need to be clear, firm and professional.

The life-threatening nature of alcoholism and addiction demands it.

We are determined to shield families from the emotional and financial stress of repeated interventions and treatments, and why we guarantee that we will:

Prepare you in such a way that will increase the chance your loved one will accept the help you offer.

Recommend a type and level of care that maximizes your loved one’s chance for a sustainable recovery.

Continue to be an ongoing resource throughout the healing process, there beside you, every step of the way.
